Greenpeace recently sent about 20 individuals to Peru to willfully put large banners very nearly on top of one of the Nazca Lines, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has existed for over 1,500 years, and in their actions, damaged one of these irreplaceable sites. Their hubris and self-righteousness has resulted in damages, likely permanent, to a cultural and religious site, not only important to the Peruvian people, but to the world.
I request that the Federal Government formally condemn the organization Greenpeace for their thoughtless, destructive actions, and if at all possible, prosecute the organization and/or the individuals who carried out this act. These sites are irreplaceable and irreparable, and this group damaged them simply to make a political statement
