We, the compassionate and caring people of the United States, do believe that reparative therapy, that is, therapy that attempts to change one's sexual orientation by force, through stimuli, drugs, shock therapy, or social/group/familial pressure, et. al. should be considered abusive if forced upon another individual.
As such, we ask that it be legally and formally considered "unprofessional conduct" as well as illegal and abusive to perform reparative therapy in any form on a minor. Reparative therapy does not include therapy that seeks to help an individual cope, learn, explore, or otherwise deal with his/her sexual orientation; nor therapy that provide acceptance, support, and understanding of clients or the facilitation of clients’ coping, and social support.
