Formally implement mandatory metrication nearly 38 years after the Metric Conversion Act of 1975.

As you may know, the United States is currently one of only three countries in the world which has not undergone metrication, meaning mandated use of the metric system. The other two countries are Liberia and Myanmar (recognised as Burma by the United States).
However, the United States was one of the original signatories of the Treaty of Metre in 1875. By 1975 an act was put in place "to coordinate and plan the increasing use of the metric system in the United States." Seven years later, President Reagan revoked funding due to ineffectiveness.
However, in this day and age the metric system is increasingly important. The standard for science, engineering and international commerce is metric. The United States is only held back through a lack of formal metrication and advancement is needed.
