Formally offer asylum to members of the LGBT community in Uganda.

Created by C.B. on March 02, 2014

We the People, call upon President Obama to formally offer asylum to members of the LGBT community in Uganda, who continue to face escalated and horrific persecution due to the country's anti-gay laws. These laws against "aggravated homosexuality," could lead to life-sentences for homosexuals in Uganda. Seeing that the LGBT community is persecuted by its own government, and seeing that United States should seek to be a safe haven for those displaced by persecution, the United States government, through President Obama, ought to vocally and unequivocally offer asylum to Ugandan LGBT refugees. By offering asylum in America, we the people can help to ensure the safety of our brother's and sister's in Uganda who are forced to live in constant fear. Let us make America their beacon of hope.
