On April 1915, the Turkish government began their ethnic cleansing of the Armenian population. Many Armenians during that period were deported from their homes and forced to embark on death marches. Between 1915 and 1923, an estimated 1.5 Armenians were killed.
Today, it is noted to be one of the first genocides of the 20th century and is recognized as so by over 20 countries around the world. Though many parties and committees in the United States acknowledge its existence, we call upon the United States as a whole to do the same.
We also urge the United States to bring more awareness to the Armenian Genocide by including it in school curriculums to teach.
