Formally recognize the atrocities committed against the Armenian people circa World War I by calling the event genocide.

Created by M.S. on November 13, 2012

As of yet, the Obama Administration has not used the language of Genocide to describe the mass killings of Armenians in Turkey despite promising to do so. In continuing to omit the word in describing the event that affected numerous people and continues to affect them today is to discount their suffering, which is an insult as well as an affront to human decency.

While President Obama is certainly not a denier of the Armenian Genocide given his history with public recognition of Genocide before elected, he continues to discount its weight by referring to it as "Metz Eghern," as opposed to formally labeling it as genocide.

There are political factors involved, but surely those are irrelevant when it comes to the irrefutable facts of what transpired and the recognition of human suffering.
