The Principality of Sealand has existed for nearly half of a century and yet it is still not formally recognized by any "legitimate" government as a sovereign state. The United States should take the initiative in allowing the peaceful nation of Sealand to finally have their voice heard in the international community and to finally have the rights that they are owed.
In 1967 the Principality of Sealand was founded on the HM Fort Roughs, by Patty Roy Bates. The new nation was not within any previously annexed boundaries and as such had the right to exist. Never in its history has Sealand shown aggression towards any national entity, it is a peaceful nation that requires nothing but solitude.
