Christopher Columbus is not a historical figure that should be honored by our country with a Federal holiday. Many states and cities throughout the United States already celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day as an alternative to Columbus Day; celebrating the heritage of Native peoples. We no longer need to honor this man with a Federal holiday. We should utilize this day as a time of remembrance and a time of celebration for a diverse nation. Historically, the United States has broken hundreds of treaties/promises with Natives. Let's show support for the men and women that were here before us, and are here now. Let's honor the fallen.
