The Confederate flag is a historic symbol of hatred and racism. It should be taken down from South Carolina's state capitol, especially in the wake of the nine murders at a church in Charleston, which were motivated by the disgusting notion of white supremacy imbedded in the Confederate flag. President Obama should formally request that Governor Haley take it down.
