Formally request Google to keep Google Reader open.

Created by B.S. on March 13, 2013

In 2005, Google created an RSS reader called Google Reader. Since then, RSS has taken off as a primary way to consume news and discover content. It's become a critical tool for journalists and average consumers alike to find information.

Alternatives like Feedly and FeedDemon exist, but they do not tie in to Google services, the backbone of many small businesses. The closure of Google Reader is not merely about convenience, but about giving job creators and middle class America the tools they need to accomplish work in the fields of social media, journalism, and information trafficking.

We would like to the President of the United State to formally request that Google maintain Google Reader operations or, failing that, open source the product so that other companies can build on it.
