Job seekers in the United States are finding themselves in increasingly competitive conditions. Many, if not most, job seekers are well-qualified for the vacant work force, but are applying for positions requiring much less experience. As well, many job seekers who are entering the work force are unable to compete with the experienced multitude. Applying for jobs can be a stressful and extremely time-consumptive process, which is often met with generalized replies of application receipt and negative response. Human resource departments should be obligated to provide application status updates and when the position is offered to a successful candidate, transparency should prevail. A profile of the successful candidate should be offered to the other applicants for reflection and development.
