The accused shooter Maj. Nidal Hasan was carrying identification identifying himself as a jihadist for Allahu. In addition Hasan was acknowledged as shouting “Allahu Akbar” before he allegedly opened fire in a medical building on the base. Hasan's actions were premeditated and had been planned and coordinated with a known radical Islamic jihadist familiar to the United States Government. Depicted as workplace violence, soldiers injured or killed are not eligible for certain combat-related benefits or the Purple Heart.
