Per reference.com, the electoral college exists because the Founding Fathers had a “concern that a charismatic tyrant could manipulate public opinion and come into power. . . . The idea was that the electors would be a group of people who would ensure that a qualified person would become president.”
On November 8 the majority of voters supported a candidate described as possibly the most highly qualified individual to seek the Presidency in the history of our Nation. The preliminary winner however has no experience in public service, publicly threatened to jail the opposition, derided the press in an apparent effort to avoid scrutiny, and repeatedly made outrageous statements to gain media attention. The electors must consider and address the concern of our Founding Fathers.
