Fox News: The FCC should establish formal news distortion regulations for all Cable and Broadcast news.
A broadcast licensee is abusing its position as a public trustee if it were to withhold news or facts concerning a controversy or to slant or distort the presentation of the news. Since the demise of the fairness doctrine there is no regulatory standard regarding balance or accuracy that applies to cable news. Rigging or slanting the news is an act against the public interest. In all instances the FCC should act to protect the public interest in this respect. Federal regulation should mandate that the FCC will investigate a broadcaster if it receives documented evidence of news distortion and assures that distortion by any broadcaster is fined or the broadcaster’s license is revoked
