Legalizing marijuana is not about giving in to drug addicted people. Its about a change of mind about freedom and what it means to be free, vs what it means to have those right stripped away from us all. The war on drugs has been lost. Marijuana users are aware of all health hazards their addiction to marijuana may led them to; but no authority of law is capable of preventing them from smoking marijuana.Legalization of marijuana would lead to a better control of its consumption. When better controlled, marijuana would serve people who need its healing properties. People should be free to decide whether they like marijuana as a recreational drug or not. Welcoming marijuana, we would think of drug addiction in a new paradigm than before.
