Bowe Bergdahl should be free of all indictments after five years as a prisoner of war. Thousands of soldiers are taking their own lives each year and there should be compassion shown to our military personnel for suffering severe trauma. No one knows the extent of the trauma that Bowe Bergdahl suffered after only a few days removed from captivity and bringing more punishment is certainly not the answer. Since 2001 official figures show more US soldiers have died from suicide than in combat - a horrific toll of 22 veterans commit suicide every day.
Bowe Bergdahl paid his debt and should suffer no additional consequences for any actions prior to captivity. If true, why free him as a POW only to punish him again. Let him recover in peace to enjoy the freedom he deserves without prejudice.
