We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

Free Genetic DNA testing for African Americans (and other groups deprived of their heritage)

Created by V.H. on October 13, 2016

One of the lasting generational effects of slavery is the lack of cultural knowledge among African Americans. When the first slaves were uprooted from their countries, they were placed into a society that violently suppressed the celebration of their specific national identities. There are 54 countries in Africa, yet most black Americans do not have the privilege of knowing their cultural origins. DNA testing has become an expensive luxury, and it is not right to continue to deprive African Americans of their roots simply because they cannot afford it. Africans were uprooted from their homes and their roots and individual histories were buried with them. Continuing to deprive their descendants of their heritage is cruel. Reparations for slavery were never paid. Let this be the reperation.
