He pled guilty to charges of passing classified information to Israel and has been in prison since 1987 (27 years in prison), giving him the longest imprisonment period of any person ever convicted of espionage against The United States of America. Jonathan Pollard is the only spy of an ally country to be sentenced to life imprisonment by a United States court.
