Free Jonathan Pollard. The maximum sentence today for such an offence is 10 years. He has been in prison for over 25 years

Created by P.S. on September 25, 2011

Jonathan Pollard was sentenced to life imprisonment for passing information to Israel which the United States had previously agreed to share with Israel. He is the only person in the history of the United States to receive a life sentence for spying for an American ally. The maximum sentence today for such an offence is ten years. Pollard has been in prison for over 25 years (including 7 years in solitary confinement) and has been subjected to ghastly physical and psychological treatment. Pollard has no recourse through the justice system anymore. The Supreme Court has rejected his case in 2006. Only executive clemency from the president will save Pollard from spending the rest of his life in jail.
