There have been ongoing concerns about coercion of an alleged eye witness who said she had seen Leonard Peltier shoot the agents, but who later recanted her testimony, and who was not allowed to be called as a defense witness at his trial. It is said this woman had never even met Peltier. There have also been concerns about the evidence linking Peltier to the shootings as well as the prosecution's withholding of evidence that may have assisted Peltier's defense, including potentially key ballistics evidence. There were more than 40 people present in the gunfight in which two federal agents were regrettably killed. Only 3 American Indian Movement members were brought to trial. Statements filed by 4 different people in the case later were changed. Review the case and free Leonard Peltier.
