1 out of 5 students has Dyslexia, often these students go unoticed, struggling to make a C average. They often suffer from test anxiety and low self-esteem. My petition is to make it a requirement that every struggling reader that falls below their reading grade level be given a Dyslexia test free of charge followed by a support system. In a classroom of 25-30 students, the average in urban districts, there are 5 to 6 students who are dyslexic and are not receiving the tools they need to be successful. These students are not given the amount of time they need for testing and homework and many get frustrated and hate school, and that is the biggest shame.
