On March 31, Sgt. Tahmooressi inadvertently crossed over the Mexican Border in possession of three legally registered guns. Although Tahmooressi attempted to turn around and leave the border area he was surrounded by Mexican Police, arrested and put in general population at La Mesa Penitentiary in Tijuana.
Sergeant Tahmooressi has since been moved to a maximum security prison where he has been held in solitary confinement under conditions which could only be described as torture. We call upon the Obama Administration to demand that Mexico treat our Marine at least as well as we treat enemy combatants at Guantanamo Bay. Further, we ask the President and Congress to use their significant influence to resolve the issue and return decorated Marine Sergeant Andrew Tahmooressi home.
