We petition President Obama to grant the Petition for Commutation of Sentence filed with the U.S. Attorney General on behalf of Matt Davies who is serving a 5-year sentence in federal prison. Matt was a California medical marijuana dispensary owner that was convicted of possession, cultivation and sales of medical marijuana that is illegal under federal law but legal under California law. 23 states have legalized medical marijuana yet it remains a Schedule I drug under federal law. This conflict in federal and state laws is breaking up families, denying long suffering patients easy access to medical marijuana, driving patients to drug cartels and other illegal sources for marijuana and costing taxpayers millions of dollars.
