The state Republican Legistature has passed a controversial bill in which it can appoint Emergency Managers to replace the publicly voted officials, therefore rendering public elected offices mute. Emergency managers have been given authorative rule to govern at their discretion, sell off public property, close public schools, etc all without a majority vote. The power of the emergency manager equates to that of a dictator of which under the law is unconstitutional.
