The cost of higher education are skyrocketing. This massive amount of student loan debt will harm our economy long term. Student debt eats up consumer spending, leads to lower wages, and a lack of funding leads to a less competitive worker. While making public universities free is ideal, our government was built on compromise. If free is an impossibility, then meet in the middle with a program designed to subsidize education and reduce tuition is a great start.
