When I was a little kid, I lived in Carlsbad, CA, a coast city in San Diego county. I had always wanted to go to Carlsbad High School, which was the neighborhood school. As with any little kid, I wondered what it would be like walking the halls carrying my books and talking to my friends during passing periods. When the recession hit our city, we lost our house to foreclosure and my mom left shortly after. We rented an apartment in Oceanside and it's been my dad and I dream to move back to Carlsbad. The problem is, the average rent is $1500. I go to High Tech High North County in San Marcos and it's honestly not a very good school. I would really like to at least go to Carlsbad high, but I can't. The Oceanside schools are equally as bad. That is why I am petitioning for free school choice.
