This petition is intended to protect the speech of "at will" workers, and to convince Congress to restrict the rights of corporations in their ability to dismiss employees. In the US, it is legal to fire an at will worker for any reason unless it is due to discrimination or retaliation. This means a company could fire an employee for holding or expressing any view, or making any comment that the company sees as problematic. I believe that employees deserve reassurance that they cannot loose their job due to holding opinions contrary to that of the company. It is not right that our freedom of speech is protected from the government, but not from the companies that employ us.
