Tilikum is a bull orca who was captured from the wild as a calf and forced into captivity. He is responsible for the deaths of three people. These acts of violence were not because of malicious intent, but because Tilikum was (and still is) frustrated with his current state of living. After the most recent death, Tilikum is confined to a large pool and swims in circles all day. Though it is understandable that SeaWorld uses the whales for research and that it would not be wise to release whales born in captivity, Tilikum should be returned to the ocean. His current quality of life is extremely sad and there is no reason for him to remain at SeaWorld.
