On March 18 2015, an uproar occurred in a New York high school where in honor of foreign languages, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited in another language. Racist comments were said and made towards this. We were told, this is America, speak American. America is a melting pot of all cultures, religions and it is a home to many people to be free and to start a new life, but it does not mean they will throw away a precious thing that makes them who they are- their culture, religion and language. In America, we should be free to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in any language we are most comfortable in. America is a country built on all languages from all across the world that makes it welcoming home to them, but it is not so welcoming if the pledge can't be said in another language.
