In lieu of the recent fiscal cliff deals, congressional/federal employees would be raised 0.5% for cost of living expenses. It is both unfair to the taxpayers whose money is used to pay those wages as well unfair to those who continue to work in minimum wage jobs while cost of living increases around us due to inflation and technological advances.
We would like to propose that Congressional and federal worker salaries and wages be frozen and only raised concurrently with the federal minimum wage. If the cost of living for those making our laws and being paid by the federal government has been determined to have gone up enough to warrant a pay raise, then the same should be considered for the rest of the American people as well.
