Our national budget is currently in a dire state. Even as the "fiscal cliff" deadline approached yesterday (December 31), Congress still found the time to vote themselves a pay raise, as supported by President Obama's executive order. Instead of devoting all of their time and energy into finding a solution to our budget crisis, it seems as though Congress put aside some of their crucial hours into giving themselves a higher salary. Therefore, we propose that until a comprehensive solution to our vast debt and a balanced budget can be achieved, Congress members should not be able to receive any more pay raises. Hopefully, this will motivate them to devote more time to solving these import problems that we face today.
