If the United States of America cannot afford to properly care for veterans who suffer physical and psychological damage while defending this country -- then the United States of America cannot afford to wage war.
In spite of heavy media attention and political lip service paid to the scandal of treatment delays at VA medical centers, every day there is a new story about a veteran trying to raise money for medical care, or another veteran who has committed suicide. Today's news reports that the rate of suicide among women vets is "staggering". This is beyond shameful.
This petition asks the Obama Administration to direct the Defense Department to freeze spending on new weapons systems until the money can be diverted or appropriated to FULLY FUND MEDICAL CARE FOR WOUNDED VETERANS.
