We the undersigned request that the United States government create a plan of action for a more robust and ambitious space program, and to provide it the funding it needs to be a success. The details of the plan are something for further debate at a later time, but the principle of this petition is that the United States should develop a truly stellar space program that involves finding a monumental -- yet achievable goal for our space program to pursue, and then providing it with as much funding as is required to make the program a success.
This doesn't mean go to Mars by 2030, it means go to Mars within 10 years -- much like the Presidents Kennedy and Johnson did with the Apollo Program. If new technologies are required, it means hiring the scientists we need to develop them.
