The first amendment states that Congress shall not create laws respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. Why then do we live in a country that relies so heavily upon religion, having it intertwined with government to the point where an Atheist or a Muslim or a Buddhist has no hope of becoming president. The words 'In God We Trust' are even printed on our money. The government should separate itself from religion, as it narrows the path to political equality significantly. The fact that Christmas is a government holiday means that those belonging to religions other than Christianity are forced to miss a days work for the sake of another faith. I know this petition will probably attract a lot of hate, but i believe that would prove my point.
