The government should fund the building of an autobahn-like highway system (with no speed limits) stretching from New York City to Los Angeles California. The building of this infrastructure would create many jobs for the American populace. In addition, it would greatly reduce interstate travel time while allowing individuals to drive at any speed comfortable to them so long as it is above the minimum of 55 MPH. It would also improve trade via semis and thus improve the economy. To help pay for the maintenance and in time cover some of the initial building costs, a toll both system could be created.
The proposed autobahn-like highway would start at Los Angeles and then go through Denver, Lincoln NE, Des Moines, Chicago, Columbus, Washington D.C. and up the coast to New York City.
