Due to the spread of the Zika virus, we petition the Obama Administration to fund free vasectomies for willing participants. This will decrease unwanted pregnancies in the United States, lowering future cases of microcephaly and poverty in general. The social burden of taking care of the infected children and the impoverished could be greatly reduced by giving men the option to opt out of reproduction. A simple and relatively cheap operation would take the pressure off women to find means of birth control. Less need for female forms of birth control, less risk for widespread microcephaly in the United States, lower population living under the poverty line and giving men some control over their family future could all be achieved if this program is federally funded.
