We urge the Obama Administration, Congress and the States to fully fund the Child Care and Development Block Grant at levels that will enable low-income parents to work and at-risk children to receive care that is safe, healthy and educational.
High-quality child care is one of the best predictors of children's later success. When families have access to high-quality child care, parents can find and retain employment and gradually move their families off of public assistance altogether.
Children who are at high risk for abuse or neglect can also benefit from high-quality care, as do families who are at risk for homelessness, women seeking to escape domestic violence, and families where disabilities make finding care both crucial and difficult.
Please fund child care for our children.
