fund the future of safer nuclear power production and the construction of newer reactor designs.

Created by J.H. on September 30, 2011

Funding the future of nuclear power can do nothing but benefit the US. We currently make use of severely outdated reactors that have been kept in an unsafe state by groups seeking to prevent new nuclear plant construction.

Newer designs such as the Molten Salt reactor are incapable of nuclear meltdown scenarios and self regulate operating temperature through thermal expansion. They also require less (but significantly more common) fuel to operate and only leave around 1% of the fuel as waste compared to the 99% of our old solid fuel reactors. Incidents such as Fukushima Daiichi are impossible with such designs, but very possible with our current reactor crop.

There needs to be advancement in this area, as nuclear provides too much energy to the US to be easily replaced.
