Fund mass transit infrastructure targeted to job access in greater metropolitan areas

Created by D.K. on November 02, 2011

Fund the practical type of mass transit needed to provide access to jobs in greater metropolitan areas. To date, modalities such as Amtrak have been funded at the expense of much more affordable alternatives, such as express buses that can also use train tracks and have weather sheltered access. A train that can convert to a bus that drives on roads that extend to the suburbs can use existing or minimally modified infrastructure. This mixed modal transit has been wildly successful in many areas around the globe and is a much cheaper alternative to a tracks-only or bus-only solution requiring untimely transfers with limited service options. At the very least discount express bus options should be provided with weatherized shelters at stops.
