Lost in the uproar over guns, is the underlying cause of recent tragedies, which is the lack of treatment for individuals suffering with mental illness.
The lack of funding, research, understanding, and ability to treat those with mental illness is extremely deficient. It is a disease in this country that is vastly under researched, under funded, and disregarded. We don't understand mental illness enough and often times there is no solution for families in need of help.
Please create and fund a commission to help research, understand, and treat those with mental illness. Mental Illness should be as important as cancer research in terms of funding, research, and understanding. We need to fix this problem, otherwise tragedies will continue to happen.
