According to the article “Access the Abortion,” published by National Abortion Federation, 87% of the US counties do not have abortion service. This percentage rises to 97 in rural areas. Without sufficient licensed abortion clinics, pregnant women have to either travel to a long distance to receive abortion service, or pay for unlicensed surgeons to get unsafe abortion surgeries in black market. 5000 women die for illegal abortion service annually, however, the figure is 12 according to the Abortion Surveillance report in 2008.
