Chronic Lyme disease has been dismissed by the NIH and CDC as Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome. Unfortunately the facts do not square with this name. Chronic Lyme disease does exist as evidenced by many peer reviewed studies and furthermore, PTLDS ignores the prevalence of co-infections such as Babesiosis and Bartonella.
Therefore, I propose that funding for Lyme disease be increased by $200 M per year with 50% of that being devoted to finding a cure to Chronic Lyme disease and related co-infections.
