DRACO, the antiviral drug developed at MIT by Dr. Todd Rider, could potentially eradicate the concept of viral infections in humans. HIV, the common cold, hepatitis - these could all be myths from a dark, distant past. And with new, terrible viruses cropping up seemingly every few months, the need for a broad-spectrum antiviral drug is greater now than ever. Dr. Rider has stated he needs a pittance - only a million dollars - to fund rapid research and develop DRACO into an effective consumer product. More money would only help develop the drug faster.
