Fund research into building a safer weapon. Consider the use of wireless technology placed in public places (e.g. schools, churches, movie theaters, shopping centers, government buildings, etc.) that would automatically disable the ability of assault weapons or even ordinary weapons to fire. Outside of these protected areas (e.g. private home, wilderness, etc.) the weapon would function without restrictions. Phase out the manufacturing of "legacy" ammunition that does not conform to the new safer weapon technology.
