Nuclear Pebble-Bed Reactors are a certain type of nuclear reactor developed by South Africa that are the safest and most efficient Nuclear reactors that exist. The reason they are so safe is not just because of the multitude of safeguards around the reactor core, but also, because of the way they are built, when the radioactive balls (Pebble-Beds use balls, not rods) get too hot, the meltdown is stopped automatically because the balls are no longer dense enough to cause one. This is a physical reaction of the balls themselves, meaning it cannot malfunction. They are efficient as well, using many types of fuel when other plants use only one. Fuel is fed continuously into the reactor, preventing the need for week-long shutdowns to replace fuel rods.
