The United States is too dependent on oil. We also are behind many other countries in scientific discovery. If there is an increase to funding in the scientific community, there is a greater chance that there will be a new material/source of energy found to benefit the United States economy, give us leverage in foreign policy, create more jobs, and reinvigorate the idea of American intuition.
