While single companies are receiving significant federal commitments, there are thousands of startups struggling to raise their first $50,000. We the People envision a national entrepreneurship competition to provide seed funding to 1000 of the most promising startups over five years. At that scale, only one participating startup needs to be grow huge to make the entire investment pay off. If recent examples from seed incubators are any guide, the chances are many, many more will find significant success.
What the Moon race did for space exploration, Startup America will do for entrepreneurship. Regional hubs of the competition will grow new technologies where jobs are needed most. The national finals will bring the best startups to Washington to inspire politicians to think big again.
