In light of recent events in a certain town in Missouri, one fact has certainly come to light: Anything that happens outside the eye of a squadcar's hood mounted camera can easily turn into a game of "he said she said", with little concrete evidence.
However, cameras are becoming more portable and affordable than ever; if we were to direct even a small portion of the funds given to law enforcement to purchase personal cameras for our officers, we could drastically improve the availability of evidence in the court cases that follow.
I recognize that this has been brought up before, but in order to respect the privacy of our officers, I would request that these be optional equipment.
After all, any honorable and just officer should have no reservations about recording his actions anyway.
