Every single product that is made for retail sale in The U.S. must have Country of Origin Labeling in order to inform the ultimate purchaser in the United States of the country in which the imported article was made. Why is oil and gasoline exempt from this law?
I know some refineries use oil from many countries, fine, simply label them all. Some companies only use oil from Venezuela (for example), so in that case, the label would have a disclaimer... "This gasoline made with oil from Venezuela."
I do not understand why giant oil companies get an exemption from this policy. I believe most Americans think gas is the same wherever they buy it. I also think that U.S. citizens have the right to know.
