Gay Up the 2014 Olympics

Created by P.T. on September 08, 2013

President Obama can take a stand for LGBT rights at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi without having to boycott the games. In fact, he should do the opposite. He and the American delegation should go to Sochi and show the Russians, and the world, what Pride is all about. We call on the President to:

1) Wear a rainbow American flag pin on his lapel during any trip to Sochi to see the Olympic games.

2) Meet with gay rights and youth advocates in Russia during the games and publicly call on the Russian government to change it's homophobic and hateful "anti-propaganda" laws.

3) To the extent possible, support and protect any and all LGBT athletes who openly discuss their sexuality or gender from being harassed or persecuted by the Russian authorities during the games.
